Thinking aloud, I would like to have a nice big quad core workstation with lots of memory.
As I see it, it would run debian linux, with vmware so I can have multiple OS's such as Windows server 2008, Windows 7, Ubuntu Linux, Redhat Enterprise, etc. etc.
This would enable me to cover all the things I get up to, without having to reinstall my current desktop machine each time ( a core 2 duo E8400 ), which you will agree is tiring and prone to data loss.

Adolphe Sax would weep
X32 no more

my X32 died, snif... so I replaced it with a Sammsung NC10, which is a neat piece of technology - light, long battery life, and the keyboard is 93% the size of a laptop keyboard, which is big enough for my fat fingers. I do get annoyed at the 600 pixel height screen though, but that's life with a netbook.

Window Maker is back

messing with my desktop again,
apparently windowmaker has received some updates. After all these years it is still a very nice window manager, fast and stable. Even though I have a powerfull desktop, I hate bloated windowmanagers and prefer by far Openbox, XFCE, or windowmaker etc.
Anyway, with the Darkilouche theme and Openworld icons, it is my desktop of the moment.

VMware Server
I've completed installation of a VMware server, hosting XP, Ubuntu, OpenSolaris, Solaris 64bit, Centos 5.3, Fedora 11, Redhat 4, and more to come.
Virtual box is faster, but my ISP offers a pre-built vmware server, so being lazy I went for that.
This is pretty cool, it allows testing/building of applications on multiple x86 platforms.
Now, if only I could have a Sparc Solaris vm, an AIX vm, a HP-UX vm….
Hosting Server
Migration to the new server is completed. This machine has twice the speed & bandwidth and can host many sites.
For the techies out there, it’s a Quad core Xeon, with 8Gb ram and 2 x 750Gb hard disks in Raid 1. The OS is Gentoo Linux.
